OPERATION TOOFAN – Kottayam District Inauguration Held at Chavara Public School, Pala

Date: 21st July 2026, Tuesday | 2:00 PM
Venue: Chavara Public School Auditorium, Pala

Chavara Public School, Pala proudly became the venue for a landmark event this July — the Kottayam District inauguration of Operation Toofan, the flagship campaign of the Government of Kerala against narcotics.

Operation Toofan is a statewide initiative aimed at creating a drug-free Kerala by strengthening awareness, prevention, and community participation. We are immensely proud that Chavara was chosen to host the district-level launch of this prestigious programme.

The event was inaugurated by Shri. Ramesh Chennithala, Minister for Home, Vigilance, Fire and Rescue Services, Prisons, and Coir, who called upon society to unite in protecting the younger generation from the menace of drugs.

The function was presided over by Shri. Mani C. Kappan, MLA. Shri. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the vital role of educational institutions in building a drug-free future.

Adding further significance, Adv. Mons Joseph, Minister for Irrigation, Command Area Development Authority, Ground Water Department, Water Supply & Sanitation, and Housing, administered the anti-drug pledge, reaffirming our collective commitment.

The Toofan Warriors – Our Student Ambassadors

A highlight of the inauguration was the introduction of the Toofan Warriors, the specially trained student volunteer force of Chavara Public School. These young ambassadors took a solemn pledge to lead the anti-drug movement from the front — to create awareness in classrooms, support their peers, and extend the campaign to families and the community. The Toofan Warriors will be the driving force of Operation Toofan within our campus and beyond.

The programme was attended by public representatives, government officials, students, teachers, parents, and members of the community, including felicitators Shri. Nattakam Suresh MLA, Adv. Philson Mathews and Adv. Biju Punnathadam, making it a powerful demonstration of unity against substance abuse.

At Chavara, we believe education goes beyond classrooms — it is about shaping responsible citizens, inspiring positive change, and building a healthier, safer tomorrow. We are honoured to have hosted this historic district inauguration of Operation Toofan.
